After receiving a Bye in the first round of the cup Northamptonshire Titans took on fellow division 2 side Ipswich Basketball in the second round. The tie was highly anticipated as the first Home game for the Titans since the closure of their pre-pandemic season, and the game did not disappoint. Titans started in impressive fashion, as the scoring was opened by late signing Leome Francis, who returns to side from D1 Reading Rockets. Francis was quickly followed by stunning ‘and 1’s’ from Hayden Alcindor and Jason Tucker respectively. The initial tone set by the Titans was maintained throughout the game. Tough defence from Justin Edwards and Leon Henry lead to steal after steal and fast break conversions. In the impressive defensive performances from Edwards and Henry, Titans were able to restrict Ipswich’s top scorer to just 16 points, his previous outings for his team saw three 30+ point performances. Titans D2 men have a weekend off before returning for a double header on the 23rd and 24th October, in the league and 3rd round of the cup respectively.
